FA20Club Tunes Any Toyota GT 86, Scion FR-S

The Toyota GT 86, or Scion FR-S as it is sold in the US, it’s a brilliant back-to-basis, affordable driver’s car. But there are fans out there that want more power from the 200 hp 2-liter boxer engine under its hood.

FA20CLUB Turbo Kit 10 PSI Preliminary Testing

Long day at FA20Club all around got to throw the turbo FRS on the dyno to test our new base tune we finalized this week and decided to crank it up a notch and see how she liked it. Car runs even better on the new base tune than before and bumped up power on same 5psi level. When i ran her up to 10 psi we got 337hp 255tq. This was no timing changes mainly just the improved cam phasing and a few other things to make drivability better on the current kit. Next week we will complete the test with E85 on the same boost level and see what we get before we push it a little more. sorry just a crappy cell shot the dyno printer was dead. ill be back next week anyway so you guys get a sneak peek for now.

This is our newly released entry level turbo kit for the FRS and BRZ. Easily bolt on 100hp in a few hours. Our kit is the most inclusive on the market. With the base kit you're capable of up to 270-282whp with no fuel mods. Add on our fuel pump & injector package and you'll be able to make well above that with a custom tune.

ECUTEK BRZ & FR-S Reflash Dyno Results Are In

Incredible........Thats what most are saying the improvements have been with the docile FA20 engine with a quick reflash. We had the opportunity to start a R&D program for this platform and have yet to be disappointed as far as gains and progression are concerned. We started with our own AT FR-S and have since then moved into the Manual version. the gains are still on par with our experience on the AT.

The FR-S, BRZ twins with simple bolt ons we were able to see an immense gain throughout the entire powerband. I can only say so much but the numbers don't lie...check out the chart. If you have any question give us a call or shoot us an email.

ECUTEK Software on board....

After making the final decision to join the ECUTEK team were were extremely excited to get down and dirty tuning the FA20. From common results we had seen up to this point we say some easy improvements After making a few baseline runs it was obvious where these gains were to be had. What were observed was an engine that runs extremely rich @WOT. At redline the AFR was actually 11.2:1 on our baseline runsl never exceeding 12.3:1. So first thing to be done was to remove some of the excess fuel under heavy load.

The powerband easily jumped up after tweaking the fuel table a bit. That was the easy part though. Now it was time to get down to the finer aspects of refining our tune. The major issue with this car is that nasty dip heading into 4k rpm and exiting. After looking intot he cam angle tables there were some variances that made this more dramatic than it had to be not to mention the injector phasing between the direct and the port around the same rpm range.

We look forward to working on the Scion FRS, Subaru BRZ, and Toyota GT86. After about 6 hours testing and teaking we had come up with a satisfactory tune for the A/T transmission FA20, Onto the manual......
